When I started working with my Health Coach, all I could do was focus on one day at a time, getting better little by little.

So how does this coaching thing work?

In our coaching sessions, you and I will decide together what to focus on. We will look at your current habits, then focus on setting goals to incorporate healthy habits into your daily life. Often, I will suggest Dr. Wayne Scott Anderson’s books to give our coaching time some structure.

I know that you have fibromyalgia and CFS — and that you’ve already had to give up many things in your life. Asking you to give up even more can be really difficult — no matter if it’s things like coffee and chocolate! It can still feel like you’re giving up the last things that give you joy!

I use a much more effective and gentle approach:

I focus on adding healthy habits instead of removing bad ones.

Eventually the good will squeeze out the bad — and the bad habits will disappear anyway! (But shh! Don’t tell them! It’s our secret trick!)

We’ll plan for your challenges and celebrate your victories.

In each coaching session, we talk through any challenges that have come up since our last time together, plan for your upcoming week, and celebrate your victories. Often, I’m the one who has to point out what a victory is. It’s so easy to overlook the little things that should be celebrated!

You’ll set tiny, baby goals for the week.

You will always leave your coaching session with one or two items to work on until we talk again. This gives you focus and helps you build lasting results.

I will encourage you each week to set a “Be” goal, in addition to a “Do” goal. We’re all really good at making lists of things “to do”, but the “Be” goal is something that will help you focus on “just being.” This is the self care portion of your coaching.
